It's Friday, more or less everyone else left uni already and I'm bored & tired so here's a "The Friday Five" about summer.

1. Have you ever been to summer camp?
I have, yes! Scout camps, theatre camps, science camps 🤓 (They weren't "proper" camps though, you went to a science center every morning and went back home for the night),...

2. If so, was it fun or did you hate it?
They were fun! I usually had some friends who were in the same camp, and there was always a nice balance of pre-planned activities and just wandering around with friends, and you ended up learning or doing something new.

3. If not, did you ever wish you had?

4. What movie says "Summer Time" to you?
This is a tough one :X I feel like I don't really watch enough movies to give a good answer.

5. Did movies like "Friday the 13th" put you off summer camp?
Nah, all the summer camp movies &c I saw when I was summer camp-aged showed them in a positive light.

Appropriate timing with these questions. Summer solstice & midsummer are next week and I'm going to a summer school in France in just a couple of weeks for a month (and will have a few weeks of actual summer vacation after that, too 😱) – I guess summer schools are the PhD student equivalent to summer camps XD

Science camp sounds awesome! We went to a residential centre for a week for science and maths, oh and I also went to the same centre for my orchestra as well - always during school time though (thumbs up to missing school to spend a week doing fun sciencey or musical things!)

Gosh your trip to France is so soon!

Ahh yeah, these weren't school related camps, just some "let's do some showy experiments and have fun" camps. (admittedly I did go to uni-related weekend "camps" with largely the same idea, but oh well XD)
