Friday Five IV
It's been a while! I haven't really had anything special to post about for a long time and haven't really been feeling like posting anything either, but, well, I feel like it now and the new Friday Five is music related again. Aalso, I have an hour to kill before an exercise class I'm TAing, which isn't enough for anything productive (I'm also full of pizza so I couldn't be bothered anyways ^_^').
It's difficult to figure out the relative times of these, so I'll just link a few possibilities:
1) Recorded children's music: Eg. This song by a band that makes (made?) children's songs, I had a VHS that had a story for every song (this is a version of a "lion-hunting song" where they end up running away because lions are scary).
2) Non-recorded children's music: Eg. A bedtime song my mum sang to me.
3) TV theme songs: Eg. The Moomin theme, since it's is a show for every Finnish kid born in the 90s watched.
I know my parents also made me listen to Mozart when I was a baby, but I don't remember that, and there is also pop music I was subjected to, but it's hard to time any of the songs >_>
Probably Dir en grey's Withering to death (2005). I must've been given some CDs as presents before that, but I never really got *that* into music before getting into J-music.
Like, the lyrics? Waaaaay too many to count, hah!
I very very rarely listen to radio, and when I do, I'm not the one controlling it (so I can't turn it away). And I obviously don't have songs I dislike that much on my PC...
N/A, see previous answer :(
Ok, that took a good 30 minutes, excellent!
1) What is the first song you remember from your childhood?

2) What is the first music you purchased with your own money?
Probably Dir en grey's Withering to death (2005). I must've been given some CDs as presents before that, but I never really got *that* into music before getting into J-music.
3) What's a piece of music that you know by heart?
Like, the lyrics? Waaaaay too many to count, hah!
4) What's a song that makes you turn off the music right away?
I very very rarely listen to radio, and when I do, I'm not the one controlling it (so I can't turn it away). And I obviously don't have songs I dislike that much on my PC...
5) And why?

I was born in the 80s so I have a penchant for 80s and 90s alternative too.
I had a cassette filled suitcase that I jacked from my folks as a kid. As such things like Genesis, The Police, Supertramp and The Bangles were a big part of my formative years.
I remember singing and dancing to Sharon Lois & Bram songs as a little tyke. They were local to me but ended up getting huge and were a staple for all small Canadian children for many many years.
